Discover the underwater world of Whitireia Park at our free community snorkelling event! Explore beautiful seagrass beds, rocky reefs and the marine life that calls them home — you might even spot a seahorse!
🐠 Everyone welcome, including beginners!
We provide all the snorkelling gear and experienced guides to help you enjoy a safe and memorable experience in the water.
A few things to know:
Participants must be aged 8+ and confident swimmers.
Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who also takes part in the snorkel.
Bring your togs, towel, refreshments and anything else you need to enjoy a day by the coast.
🤿 How to take part
Registrations open at 9.45am on the day. Come along to book your snorkel time — spots may fill up quickly!
Each tour takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, including getting ready, snorkelling and returning your gear afterwards. The last tour departs at 1.45pm.
Make a day of it and enjoy exploring the coast and taking part in other activities!

📍 Getting there
By bike: Why not enjoy the beautiful coastal track? It's approximately 5km from Titahi Bay Boat Club to the snorkel site.
By car: The road to the snorkel site is narrow and can be challenging when traffic is busy. Where possible, please carpool and drive carefully. Clearly signposted parking will be available throughout the day.
