Staying updated on these advancements can be challenging.That's why The Kelp Forest alliance have launched the Kelp Webinar Series, bringing you captivating stories, groundbreaking research, and valuable lessons from kelp forest experts and enthusiasts worldwide. Explore the wonders of kelp, share insights, and connect with the vibrant community dedicated to these vital marine ecosystems. At this webinar, you'll hear from Zoe Studd and co-presenters from Love Rimurimu as well as Josie Iselin and Marianna Leuschel from Above/Below.
Love Rimurimu: Kelp Restoration in Aotearoa Love Rimurimu is a community-led collaboration focused on regenerating the underwater forests of Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Community restoration is both a social and cultural endeavour. We'll share the collaborations and the people who have helped make this project succeed. We'll also discuss some of the lessons learned in bringing the community into the project, including our work in education with schools, community science, and outreach. Additionally, we'll provide an overview of the progress made with our community plant-outs to date.
Above/Below: Building the Webstory "The Mysterious World of Bull Kelp": Marianna Leuschel and Josie Iselin are artists, writers, and designers who have created a comprehensive web-based book about bull kelp. They will walk us through their process of connecting with scientific experts, conceptualizing the structure of the webstory, writing the content, curating the material, designing the page templates, and reviewing the project management strategy for building this beautiful, successful, award-winning webstory. Their key takeaway: collaborate with a designer!
