Mountains to Sea Wellington

Sarah Kachwalla
Trustee/Co-Founder/Co-Director
A co-founder of the MTSW Trust, Sarah grew up in the Hutt Valley and as a child had a love for dolphins (what young girl didn’t!). That soon grew into a passion for the ocean and desire to become a marine biologist. Fast forward 20 odd years and it’s the small things that get Sarah excited with macro underwater photography being a favourite.
Sarah studied a Masters in Marine Conservation at Victoria University, and discovered a love for sharing her knowledge and passion with others through voluntary work. She first got involved with Mountains to Sea as snorkel volunteer, which evolved into training as a EMR and WBC co-ordinator and became a co-founding trustee in 2017 when the Mountains to Sea Wellington trust was formed.
Sarah brings her epic details-driven skills to the team and is often also found peering down road side drains. She developed the storm-water litter monitoring protocols now being used across the country.
Today Sarah brings her new-found skills as a mum, thinking outside the box and getting creative to support the Trust to grow and deliver on its mission to inspire young kiwis to take care of their environment..
