Mountains to Sea Wellington

Nick Churchouse

Trustee

Nick learned to dive on Wellington’s south coast as a 15-year-old and spent the next 20 years dipping in and out of the ocean the world over, studying, learning and teaching about the underwater world from Breaker Bay to the Bahamas. He has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marine Science from Toi Ohomai and is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

Nick has been back in Wellington for the past ten years, working as a journalist at The Dominion Post and now with entrepreneurs and innovators at Creative HQ. He is the father of two budding snorkelers and really needs to up his hours in the water.

Working with MTSW is a life-long love role for Nick, supporting an amazing team inspiring and immersing the next generation of marine and freshwater explorers. From the swathes of rimurimu in Raukawa Moana,  the curious cod of Taputeranga or giant kina beds off Makara, Wellington’s coast is a rugged and rich community of submarine flora and fauna and is home to Nick’s love of the sea and all in it.
